Perez was born in 1939 in Haifa, Israel. A son to Greek immigrants from the port city of Thessaloníki he was always attracted to the sea.
Family circumstances forced him to leave school and start working at a young age, thus Perez became a fisherman, visiting the city of Eilat for the first time, catching fish...
After fulfilling his duty for the Israeli Defense Force, as a Navy soldier, Perez joined the Israeli Shipping Company, ZIM.
Eilat is one of Israel's most unique cities; a sleepy desert city that lays on the Red Sea, between Sinai, the Egyptian peninsula, and Jordan. Perez moved there soon after getting married, in 1975.
For more than 30 years Perez worked for ZIM, becoming an officer and traveling the seas. His profession took him to almost every possible port, he visited many places in times when the world was not a small global village, when sailing took weeks, when there were no websites to Google name of places.
Brining oil from per-revolutionary Iran, oranges from Djibouti, bananas from Africa, and later on many containers, mostly from East Asia; Perez saw, ate, drank, visited, experienced and enjoyed everything the world had to offer. His encounters with other cultures shaped him to be a person who loves, admires and cherishes the differences between people.
While sailor, Perez had almost no time to develop his big desire for Art. He did it mainly on short shore vacations but not intensively.
Nowadays, Perez retired and went back home, where he can dedicate his days to his art.
Perez’s retirement gave him the opportunity to invest in what he likes the most: painting, (he also likes cooking very much, and does it as good as he paints, but that's a topic for another website). Now he wishes that his Art, that mixes his life experiences, would be welcomed around the world.
פרץ נולד ב-1939 בחיפה, בן למהגרים יוצאי סלוניקי. עבד שנים רבות כקצין מכונה בצי- הסוחר. הפליג לכל אורך ורוחבו של הגלובוס, ראה, שמע, טעם ושתה את כל מה שהיה לעולם להציע. לפני מספר שנים הוא יצא לפנסיה ושב אל העיר אילת שם חיכתה לו משפחתו האוהבת.
עבודתו כימאי דחקה לשוליים את אהבתו הגדולה לציור והוא מיעט לעסוק בכך בעודו בים. ברגע שעזב את ההפלגות, המזרח הרחוק, המאכלים והעולם הגדול חזר אל אהבתו הישנה - אומנות הציור (יש לו גם אהבה עמוקה לאוכל ובישול, הוא מבשל מעולה, אבל זה כבר נושא לאתר אחר).
בסטודיו מאולתר בחדר לשעבר של בתו הצעירה, שמשקיף על מפרץ אילת, הוא הוציא מאחסון את כן הציור הישן (שקנה לו גיסו לפני שנים רבות) והחל שוב לאחוז במכחול, לערבב צבעים ולהרגיש את הכוח של עמידה מול בד לבן ריק שאחרי שעות אינספור מתעורר לחיים. תחילה היה מתמקד בדברים שהיו חלק גדול מחייו הים, הגלים, האוניות העצומות והסירות הפשוטות. עם הזמן, הוא פיתח את נושא הים, במחשבתו הופיעו רעיונות שונים ואחרים והבדים הלכו והתמלאו בשלל סגנונות, עולמות, חזיונות וצבעים.
מהעיר אילת הקטנה שבמדינת ישראל, אין אפשרות להגיע לעולם הגדול שבעבר היה חלק בלתי נפרד מחייו, הדרך היחידה האפשרית היא הדרך הוירטואלית, גלריית ממוחשבות זו נבנתה בניסיון להחזיר את עבודתו של האיש שביקר בכל קצוות תבל ובחר לנטוע את מוט האוהל במקום בו יוכל לחזור לצייר כשמשפחתו איתו. הוא עייף מנסיעות, ממקומות זרים, הוא כבר לא מתגעגע להפלגות, לא חסר לו דבר לאחר שחזר לעסוק במה שמאז ומעולם רצה בו. כל רצונו עכשיו הוא לשלוח את יצירותיו במקומו, אל העולם הגדול, בתקווה שתתקבלנה בברכה.
